🌱 The Energy of Spring in TCM: A Season of Growth and Renewal

Spring has arrived, and with it comes the unmistakable sense of renewal. After the stillness of winter, we can feel the stirring of life — flowers begin to bloom, trees push out new shoots, and our energy naturally wants to rise and move outward.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is associated with the Wood element, which symbolises growth, vision, and new beginnings. The Wood element is connected to the Liver and Gallbladder — organs that play a vital role in decision-making, planning, and releasing what no longer serves us.
When our Liver Qi is flowing smoothly, we feel creative, inspired, and motivated. We can see our path clearly and take action with ease. But when Liver Qi becomes stuck, the opposite can happen: irritability, frustration, and a sense of being “stuck” or overwhelmed often arise.
That’s why spring is such a powerful time to work on yourself. This season invites us to:
Move more: gentle stretching, yoga, walking, or anything that keeps Qi flowing.
Declutter: just as we spring clean our homes, we can also release old patterns and emotions that no longer serve us.
Set intentions: spring energy supports visioning, planning, and planting the seeds for what you want to create in the year ahead.
At Flow Well Being, I love helping clients align with these seasonal rhythms. A kinesiology or mind-body medicine session can support you to balance Liver Qi, release stuck emotions, and harness the natural energy of renewal that spring provides.
Think of it as a spring clean for your body, mind, and spirit — making space for fresh energy, clarity, and vitality.
